Why join the Lapland trip?

Winter activities can certainly be considered the main reason to come to the Lapland trip. However, based on previous years' experiences, the time spent together with guild members has been the most memorable aspect of the journey. So, you can expect an excellent combination of getting to know each other, shared profound moments and devotionals, board games, sauna sessions, crazy antics, and so on. Not to mention the wide range of winter sports and activities offered by Lapland.

If school assignments are piling up, no worries – you can also stay at the cottage during the day to tackle any urgent deadlines.

Transporation to/from Lapland

We will travel all together by bus, driven by a professional driver who will travel and stay with us. The planned trip itinerary is Otaniemi-Tampere-Oulu-Rovaniemi-Luosto.

The departure to Lapland is on Saturday morning from Otaniemi, Espoo. We expect to arrive in Luosto in the evening. During the bus trip, there will be several short breaks and at least one longer dinner break.

The return journey from Lapland will start on Saturday morning, and we expect to arrive late in the evening.

In case you would like to arrive later or leave earlier, get in touch with the trip organisers. There are also bus connections between Rovaniemi and Luosto if you wish to travel on your own. Please inform us of any special arrangements you are aware of in the registration form or as soon as they arise. In such cases, we will also discuss the cost of the trip separately with you so that you don't pay unnecessarily for bus rides.

More detailed information will be included in the official welcome letter we will send you well before the trip.

Destination and activities

Luosto offers downhill skiing slopes, snowshoeing trails, and over a hundred kilometres of cross-country skiing tracks, complete with charming trail cafés – a true paradise for winter sports enthusiasts. We will ask about group discounts at the ski resort after we know the number of participants. Transportation between the accommodation and the ski resort will be arranged from Sunday to Friday if needed.

The accommodation is Arctic Lodge>, located approximately 650 meters from the Luosto ski resort and about 25 km from the Pyhä ski resort. Cross-country skiing tracks are located 100-400 meters from the cottage. The lodge can accommodate a total of 26 people where most rooms can fit 2-3 people. Almost every room is equipped with its own private toilet facilities. The lodge features one large common area with spacious dining tables, a fireplace, and sofas, making it well-suited for socialising, hanging out or board games. There are three saunas, all of which can be heated every evening. The accommodation also includes an outdoor equipment storage room.

During the trip, meals will be prepared in groups, meaning that everyone will take turns participating in cooking and dishwashing duties. No worries – the meals will be easy to prepare, and clear instructions, as well as experienced camp cooks will be available to assist.

Price of the trip

The estimated cost of the trip is currently between 370 € and 450 €. The final price will be determined after the trip, depending on the number of participants. Several factors may affect the cost of your trip:

  • If you are a guild freshman (first-year participant in the Cross Guild activities) and a guild member, you will receive a freshman discount of a whopping 50% off the base price!
  • By registering no later than Sunday February 8th, you will receive an Early Bird discount of 5% off the base price.
  • If you are no longer a bachelor's or master's student and you are employed, you can support the students' trip by paying an additional 20% of the base price.

(For example, a freshman who registered during the Early Bird period will pay 45% of the base price, an alumnus who registered during Early Bird will pay 115%, and a last-minute registered alumnus will pay 120%.)

The price includes transportation, meals at the destination, and accommodation. However, meals during the outbound and return journeys, the costs of ski passes, and equipment rentals will be in addition and are acquired as a group order to benefit from group discounts. Early Bird or freshman discounts and graduation surcharge do not apply to these extra expenses.

If your financial situation is tight but you still want to join, financial assistance for the trip is possible. In such cases, feel free to contact the Lapland trip organizer Ville.
